New Etsy Shop!
I went to a craft show a little over a week ago. I didn't do very good, but that's the nature of these things some times. But my passion for making the little buggers was ignited again. So, I opened an Etsy shop! If you aren't familiar with Etsy, it's this fantastic website for arts and crafts and everything handmade. Kinda like Ebay for handmade things without the bidding. So, I thought that I would revive this blog. I don't know that I will have too many people read my post, but maybe future readers will come and look at it! A girl can hope, right? Oh yeah, I guess I should maybe mention that it's 5:30 in the morning. That may account for the craziness...then again, that may just be me! Anyway, come check out my shop, let me know if there is anything you would like to see and I will see what I can do! Help me get off the ground! Thanks!
Would probably be helpful if I added the link for the website, huh? Here you go! (Remember it's only 5:30 in the morning! Ugh!) http://www.etsy.com/shop/FoggyMorningSundries

Troubles
So, I have been trying to get soap made. I made a batch of cold process soap, this is a handmade, that had some problems. I haven't done much with colors, so I was trying my hand at a swirl. This wasn't the problem. I thought it was ok...not what I wanted because my soap got too thick for me to swirl like I wanted, but still ok. What the problem was, was when I cut my soap, I had little weeping orange spots that dried up and turned darker orange. I didn't have any idea what the problem was! I conferred with a soap making group online and it was decided that I am inexperienced. :-)
No, really. I am, but the spots came from the fragrance oil (FO) not getting mixed in well enough. I think it's because it caused ricing. I am unsure if there is anything I can do about it yet. I also learned more about mixing colors better. You can see spots of blue that aren't mixed in well. I have made 2 batches after this is I have gotten better. :-) Anyway, I tried another batch yesterday with the same FO and I definitely noticed some ricing. This batch is much better in that it only has a few orange spots and no weeping. And look! My color is mixed!

Foggy Morning Sundries
This is my casual business. I make my own soaps. I love doing this. It's fun to see how creative I can be mixed with a little bit of chemistry. It is so neat to pour different oils, lye, color and scent together and get out a neat looking bar of soap! I'm not a very creative person, but this has helped bring it out some of it. I love looking atsome of the neat ones that others WAY more experienced than me make. I can only wish that I will be this good some day.
Here are some pictures of soap that I have done
recently.
I will be selling them this year at the Clay District Fair in Daybrook from August 11 through the 15th. I will have a tent there, if you come out stop by and see what I have available. I will be taking orders too.
